WHAT WE DO

Kent Pride Fest is dedicated to celebrating and uplifting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community through inclusive, affirming, and empowering events. We strive to encourage equality and foster a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

Regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, or background, we encourage everyone to express their authentic selves, connect with others, and stand proud.

SUPPORT

KENT PRIDE

Our mission is to promote visibility in our community by celebrating ourselves as individuals and remembering what we have fought so long for to protect.

Rainbow Weekend

Every October, Kent celebrates community, history, and pride during Rainbow Weekend. Hosted by Main Street Kent with the Kent State LGBTQ+ Center during LGBTQ+ History Month, the weekend features bridge decorations in Progress and Trans Pride colors, drag performances, storytelling, workshops, and a Rainbow Walk through downtown. These events uplift local voices, affirm identities, and bring people together in joy and solidarity. Proceeds from signature events like the Drag Race 5K benefit Kent State’s LGBTQ+ Emergency Fund, supporting students in crisis with essentials from housing to academic materials.

June Pride Fest

We host a vibrant Pride Fest each June in honor of Pride Month. Held in the heart of downtown, the festival brings together live music, local vendors, food, art, and community visibility in a joyful, inclusive atmosphere. Organized by Acorn Alley and partner organizations, Pride Fest creates a welcoming space for LGBTQ+ artists, entrepreneurs, and community members to connect, share their pride, and engage with the wider public. Free and open to all ages, the event invites everyone to celebrate identity, culture, and solidarity.

LGBTQ+ Grants

Kent’s LGBTQ+ Grant program is designed to uplift grassroots efforts, creative projects, and community initiatives that advance queer visibility, inclusion, and empowerment. Through this grant, local organizers, artists, and nonprofit groups can access funding to launch events, educational programming, or support services aligned with LGBTQ+ mission goals. The grant helps catalyze innovation and provide seed funding for projects that might otherwise lack resources, strengthening the local queer ecosystem.
